My Story

From the age of twelve, I was plagued with this skin condition that evidently covered my upper arms, hips and legs. As a young teenager, this skin condition constantly played on my mind affecting my confidence and self esteem dramatically.

Several appointments to doctors and dermatologists left me feeling disheartened, as I was told there was no cure for this uncommon skin condition and that I may some day grow out of it. Hours of wasted time would be spent on the internet, hoping that I would come across a new found moisturiser or exfoliate that I hadn’t already tried, which could eradicate this skin condition permanently.

Unfortunately I didn’t find that miracle cream to cure my Keratosis Pilaris and I was left to somehow cope with the fact that I had bumpy skin.

I would go through stages of hope and despair, with motivational spurts to still look for something that would help my skin. Unexpectedly one day, I came across an article on the internet that talked about natural health and the common link between the health of our digestive system and the health of our skin.

This was like a light bulb that went off inside my head, could it be that the my stomach troubles that I had as a child some how had been a cause to the production of this skin problem? What were causing the stomach problems in the first place, was it the refined, nutrient depleted, junk food I was constantly eating that could have caused digestive upset and eventually malnourishment?

This new way of thinking propelled me to study an Advanced Diploma in Naturopathy and eventually a Bachelor of Health Science in Complementary Medicine.

Through years of study, it has provided me with the knowledge to correlate causative factors with disease symptoms and processors, as well as the use of natural supplements alongside dietary and lifestyle changes to assist with the healing of these conditions, including Keratosis Pilaris.

Nearly nine years later and there are still many people suffering with Keratosis Pilaris as I was when I was twelve years old, who are still lost and confused and are left without any answers.

For this reason I have made this blog as a base for all Keratosis Pilaris sufferers, so that you don’t have to waste hours of time on the internet searching for the information to overcome your KP. You can have it right here, all in one place and I want to help you clear your KP just like I did my own!

I hope that this information helps you find your way to smoother skin.
